The poet Bayram Al-Tunisi experienced a tragedy that extended across all political, social, economic, cultural, and even moral levels. He began to compose poetry that focused on the oppression of reality with a weary, sick spirit, and with a touch of irony and sarcasm about the wound and reality, all of which he conveyed through his poetic lines to his audience. He employed his poetic talent as a weapon to protect the aspirations of the Arab nation in general and the Egyptian people in particular, in addition to his struggle against the occupiers. Bayram is an Egyptian poet of Tunisian origin who defended Egypt and endured hardships and exile in order to defend what is right. His poems and his sarcastic style were a violent reaction, a lively cry, a sharp glow, and often scathing criticism against the ruling regime and its practices, exposing the conspiracies of the occupation and foreigners. This article, according to the descriptive-analytical approach, aims to address the concepts of sarcasm and its semantic fields in his poetry, and to clarify his sarcastic and scathing style in dealing with the issues of Egyptian society, and to reveal its impact in awakening the awareness of citizens in fighting tyranny, confronting despotism, fighting contradictions, ignorance, and false slogans, and rejecting the miserable reality therein. Some of the findings reveal that he attempted to confront lived reality through satire, a form of criticism and awareness, a means of persuasion, and an expression of his stance on human morals and behavior. It performs a profoundly influential social function and addresses common popular topics in a simple, popular style. Al-Tunisi's goal in using satire was to reach a critique of life, whether through change or reform, to rebuild it anew. This was achieved by identifying the flaws, exposing them, and then attempting to devise solutions and ways out. In doing so, he relied on a variety of different and ingenious methods that could both make people laugh and cry, stimulate the mind, and stir emotions. This became a multifaceted weapon, which increased its impact and power.
