This study explores the semiotics of the title in the poetry collection Velvet Conscience by Omani poet Abdullah Al-Kaabi. In literary and especially poetic discourse, the title is a crucial textual threshold that performs semantic, aesthetic, and interpretive functions, guiding reading and expanding reception. In contemporary poetry, it is no longer merely an identifying label but an active structural element in meaning-making, as seen in modern Omani poetry. The research analyzes the interactive relationship between title and poetic body, identifies titling strategies, and uncovers cultural references and semantic intertexts. It aims to highlight the aesthetic and interpretive nature of the title in Al-Kaabi’s work and its role in shaping the modern poem’s discursive structure. Using a descriptive-analytical method informed by semiotics, the study deconstructs titles and connects them to textual and cultural contexts. Findings show that Al-Kaabi’s titles function as semantic nuclei that condense the poetic structure and direct interpretation. They reveal deep awareness of linguistic deviation and symbolic abstraction, and frequent dialectical binaries expressing the poetic self’s tension. Single-word titles achieve high linguistic condensation, carrying cultural and psychological connotations. Thus, the title becomes an essential, integrated component of the text, granting it philosophical, poetic, and human dimensions.
