Comparative literature is a critical field that examines the reciprocal relationships between literatures and cultures and explores the various forms of interaction and influence among them in different contexts. One of its most prominent areas is imagology, which focuses on the study of the image of the Other in literary texts and analyzes how representations of peoples and places are constructed within literary discourse and the cultural and civilizational meanings they convey. Travel literature constitutes a fertile domain for the manifestation of images of places and peoples, as it allows for the direct recording of observations and impressions. In this context, Nasir Khusraw Qubadiyani’s Safarnama provides rich travel material that reveals his perceptions and representations of the places he visited. This study aims to analyze the image of Lebanon in this work from an imagological perspective, employing a descriptive-analytical method. The findings demonstrate that Lebanon is portrayed as an integrated civilizational space in which advanced urban development, natural fertility, and economic vitality converge, thereby contributing to the construction of a positive image of the Lebanese landscape within the travel narrative. Lebanese cities emerge as models of order, stability, and prosperity, while the natural scenery and abundance of resources add aesthetic and economic dimensions to this representation. Consequently, Lebanon is presented as a realm embodying the foundations of civilizational advancement. The study also highlights the capacity of travel discourse to generate and transmit cultural knowledge about place, moving beyond direct description toward the construction of a meaningful image of the spatial Other.
