Carmen Valero Garcés’s theory is regarded as one of the most significant frameworks in translation assessment, addressing translation quality on four main levels: semantic, syntactic, functional, and stylistic. Distinguished by its precise evaluative tools, the theory enables the analysis of Qur’anic translations in terms of efficiency and their ability to preserve the meaning, function, and style of the source text. This study, conducted through a descriptive–analytical method, aims to evaluate Mohammad Mahdi Fouladvand’s translation of Surah al-Furqan according to Garcés’s model. Given that Qur’anic translations require systematic evaluation to identify both strengths and shortcomings, the research acquires particular importance. The focus was placed on the morpho-syntactic level, analyzing the translation techniques employed and determining the most frequently used ones to assess the translation’s adherence to the source text structure and its effectiveness in the target language. Findings indicate that Fouladvand’s translation relies heavily on the “syntactic shift” technique, followed by “semantic expansion” and “literal translation.” This reflects the translator’s commitment to the source language while observing the grammatical norms of the target language, resulting in a balanced rendering that combines accuracy with functionality. Overall, Fouladvand’s work can be considered successful in terms of adequacy and acceptability, based on the morpho-syntactic indicators provided by Garcés’s theory.
