Magical realism is a significant narrative trend in contemporary literature, blending reality with supernatural elements and breaking the boundaries between the ordinary and the extraordinary. It presents unusual events within daily life, enriching artistic expression and creating a narrative that merges reality, illusion, possibility, and impossibility. This allows flexible movement between worlds, offering a fresh perspective on reality. This study examines The Black Spirit by Youssef Harsha as a clear example of magical realism. It analyzes the novel’s use of elements such as illusion, myth, magic, cloning, immersion, and exaggeration, showing how these build a world neither fully realistic nor entirely fantastical. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical method to trace and examine these features within the novel’s broader context, aiming to understand how its world is constructed through magical realism. Findings indicate that The Black Spirit integrates magical realism by embedding supernatural aspects like magic and myth naturally within everyday life. The novel uses cloning through repeated scenes with slight changes, reflecting time’s complexity and overlapping dimensions. Exaggeration enhances mystery and wonder, while fantasy and illusion merge with reality to produce a narrative shifting between the possible and impossible. This fusion adds psychological and cultural depth, offering a distinctive reimagining of reality.
