Our paper titled "Manifestations of Philosophy in Narrative Discourse: A Case Study of the Novel 'Al-I’tiraf- Confession' by Emirati novelist Ali Abu Al-Rish seeks to unveil the presence of philosophical elements within the novel. The analysis delves into the intricate fabric of the text, commencing from its initial stage—the confession. At the core of our investigation is a fundamental query: Can the novel, akin to theater, serve as a conduit for the dissemination of philosophical ideas? We explore the potential for contemporary philosophy to transition from its exclusive form to a broader audience through the medium of narrative storytelling, currently experiencing a pinnacle of prosperity. The study scrutinizes how the novel can effectively convey philosophical concepts to readers of various levels without compromising the inherent pleasure and creative objectives.
The process of naturalizing a novel text as a philosophical work demands significant skill from the writer. This involves the intricate task of reconstructing philosophical ideas that may be challenging for the reader. The author must skillfully deconstruct established cultural patterns, adopting an intellectual stance and a unique worldview that encompasses aspects of existence, humanity, time, and transformation. Beyond mere deconstruction, the novelist must seamlessly integrate these philosophical concepts into the fabric of the narrative, allowing characters to embody these ideas without revealing the author's influence or suppressing the authenticity of the characters. Our study examines Abu Al-Rish's novel as a noteworthy example of an Arabic philosophical novel text, showcasing the nuanced interplay between narrative creativity and philosophical discourse.
