Simile is one of the most common and most frequent techniques in Arabic poetry and one of the most important rhetorical images that writers and poets used before Islam to influence their audience. Simile is considered as a means of imagination because it plays a colorful and important role in conveying emotions and feelings to the audience and also in creating a poetic image. Therefore, the author of this essay decided to use a descriptive and analytical approach to investigate this literary industry in the poetry of one of the contemporary Iraqi poets, Qasim al-Abidi. This Iraqi poet has paid attention to this expression technique in many of his poems to beautify the poetic speech. The variety of poetry at the technical and thematic level has been carefully considered by the poet in such a way that the audience realizes the multiplicity of goals and topics when reading his poems in the collection (Qamh Bealsana Miyah). The reader of the poems of this Iraqi poet admits the suitability of the topics and purposes of poetry with the requirements of contemporary poetry and the distance of his poetry from classical Arabic literature in the past periods of Arabic poetry. In this collection of poetry, the poet has taken most of his similes from concrete reality to bring abstract concepts closer to the mind of the audience. The writer of these lines, after examining the simile in Qasim al-Abidi's poems, reached important results, the most important of which are: the poet used simile to express personal desires and wishes. Qasim al-Abidi's similes are diverse and the poet has used different types of similes, but the most frequent type of simile in the poet's poems is the eloquent simile. On the other; Most of the similes of the poet are non-sensory similes. Also, (Expressing the tenor and fixing it in the mind of the audience) it is considered one of the most obvious purposes of simile in Diwan (Qamh Bealsana Miyah).
